Morpheus8 is a minimally-invasive skin treatment that combines radiofrequency (RF) energy with clinically proven microneedling. During a traditional microneedling treatment, a handpiece equipped with ultra-fine needles is passed over the skin. These needles make “micro-injuries” in the skin that trigger the body to produce collagen and elastin. Morpheus8 takes microneedling to the next level by introducing RF energy to the process. The RF energy heats the underlying tissues to stimulate an even more significant boost in collagen and elastin production.

Who is a Candidate for Morpheus8?

Morpheus8 treatments are designed for men or women with skin laxity, hyperpigmentation and other aging concerns, such as fat pockets on the jawline or under the neck. Ideal candidates for Morpheus8 should meet the following criteria:

Generally in good health
Are not pregnant
Skin laxity that is mild to moderate
Prefer non-surgical rejuvenation
Have no active skin infections in the treatment areas
Are not taking Accutane

What to Expect During a Morpheus8 Treatment

We will begin with local anesthesia or an anesthetic cream to ensure you feel comfortable during the treatment. Morpheus8 treatment time is generally about one hour in total.

Dr. Vila will pass the Morpheus8 handpiece over your skin. The ultra-fine needles will make very tiny punctures to trigger collagen production, while RF energy is emitted to boost the result. The RF energy will feel warm, but not uncomfortably hot. You will also feel a slight prickling sensation, which may cause some discomfort. In addition to the topical numbing cream, sometimes injectable numbing medicine is used, as well as inhaled nitrous oxide.

Once the handpiece has been passed over the skin in the treatment areas, we will apply a topical serum.

Recovery After Morpheus8

There is no downtime after a Morpheus8 treatment, but there is a short recovery period that lasts for about three days. During this time, expect some redness and small dots on the skin, which will disappear completely. While your skin is healing, make sure to stay out of the sun.

You can apply makeup again after one day. Most patients are comfortable returning to work and their usual daily routine within a few days after treatment.

When will I see Results After Morpheus8?

Results take several weeks to show up. This is because your body is rebuilding the skin and strengthening the skin structure from within, using the boost in collagen and elastin production.

After about 3-4 weeks, you will be able to notice firmer, more youthful and radiant skin. We generally recommend a series of 3 treatments spaced 4-6 weeks apart to provide a longer result. Results from a series of treatments can last up to a year or longer.
