Ear Pinning (Otoplasty) in Portland

Otoplasty, or ear pinning, is a common procedure that can change the size, position, or shape of the ears. Prominent ears that stick out far from the head can be bothersome to patients. Double board certified plastic surgeon Dr. Vila is an expert at surgical treatments to address this issue.

Thanks to his commitment to aesthetically-motivated results and his practiced artistic eye, he’ll be able to create a surgical outcome that will better complement your existing features, so you can enjoy the look you know you were born to enjoy. What Happens During the Ear Pinning Procedure?

Dr. Vila usually performs this procedure in the operating room under a light anesthetic. After numbing the ears with some injections, your surgery will be performed, and it usually takes between about 60 and 90 minutes in the operating room.

All in all, the procedure is a relatively minimal one, and is nowhere near as extensive as something like a full facelift. During your consultation, we’ll talk over every detail of your procedure, so you know exactly what to expect.

What’s My Recovery Process Like?

After your surgery, your ears will very likely be sore for several days, but you’ll notice a steady improvement with each passing day. Permanent stitches will be placed under your skin to keep your ear in its new position, and the stitches in your skin will be removed after one week.

We’ll set up follow-up appointments with you to ensure that you’re healing up properly, and you’ll be given detailed aftercare instructions before your surgery even happens. For most patients, the recovery time after ear pinning surgery is only about seven to 10 days. It’s a fairly minimal recovery process, and we’ll make sure you’re back to your normal routine as quickly as possible.
